Ruling Darkness

            Our second night involved actually walking around the place we were staying: Edinburgh. It was a bitterly cold one, the wind funneling through the streets around us. Pushing against the wind, we found our way up at the top of the Royal Mile, outside this very gothic building.

Edinburgh isn't a tall city and here, the darkness above the street lights quickly enveloped the rest of the building. It was hard to pick it out against the dark sky.

Squatting to take the shot from a low angle, I paused as a couple of men passed in front. Unfortunately the wind chose that moment to pick up and, right in front of my face, an elderly man's kilt blew upwards and gave me an eyefull. That's a sight I certainly won't forget for a while.
