2020 - Vancouver - Science World - COVID-19 Blue

Vancouver’s prominent landmark buildings are adding a new sequence to their exterior lights on a nightly basis as a show of solidarity to healthcare workers in BC fighting COVID-19.

This evening the edifices were illuminated in blue — representing the colour of healthcare worker scrubs.

At Canada Place, the “O Canada” Heritage Horns that blast at noon daily are also sounding off at 7 pm coinciding with the loud applause and cheers from Vancouverites emerging ontof their balconies.

On BC Place Stadium, the exterior Northern Lights display lights up with a special animation at 7 pm daily to celebrate healthcare workers.

Similarly, the stadium will also light up blue nightly and exterior lights on Vancouver City Hall and the Burrard Street Bridge will light up in blue.

Vancouver joins many world cities where residents recognize and celebrate the dedication and work performed round the clock by health care teams treating COVID-19 patients.
