2019 - Cambodia - Siem Reap - Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial

            Our Angkor temple tours are done.  We had the afternonto explore central Siem Reap on our own.  So we did.

After some wandering around we hired a tuk-tuk for a 1 hour tour - $5 USD.  The trip lasted 1 hour and thirty minutes.  We tipped him well.

We let the driver decide where to go - he drove us to three city centre pagodas and a Cambodia-Vietnam war memorial.

The Third stop was here Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial.

This memorial honors the Vietnamese soldiers who died while freeing Cambodia from the Khmer Rouge in 1979. It was officially inaugurated in January 2005.

The place is the Cambodian Vietnamese War Memorial. Not as in a war between Cambodia and Vietnam, but as in the combined war from Vietnamese and Cambodian soldiers against Pol Pot.

The tiled structure in the background contains the names of the war victims.
