2019 - Mexico - Taxco - 1 - Welcome

Home from a month in Mexico - Taxco, Cuernavaca, Morelia & Zihuatanejo.
Gonna dump a lot of photos in the next couple of weeks as we leave 05 Dec for a Mekong River cruise between Vietnam & Cambodia.

The first stop was Taxco de Alarcón.
This is our second visit to Taxco.  The  last one was 2008, yikes!.

Taxco is a "Pueblo Mágico”, placed on the original listing (#3) in 2002.

Taxco is an authentic colonial city. It has been declared a national heritage site by the government and building regulations here are strict.

Just over 100 miles (160 km) southwest of Mexico City Taxco is one of Mexico’s most beloved colonial towns.

As a silver crafts centre, Taxco is unrivalled in Mexico. Hundreds of platerias (silver shops) line the streets, offering beautiful designs at a great value.

Perched on a steeply sloping hillside 5,000 feet above sea level, Taxco (“tass-ko”) was once a silver mining town, but with silver nearly exhausted, it is now best known for its silver craft.
