Blackwater Falls (Explored Jan. 20, 2021)

            Went way back in the archives for this one.  On a trip to the northeast  U.S in 2009 we passed through West Virginia and visited some of their impressive state parks.  Blackwater Falls State Park is located in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, WV. The namesake of the park is Blackwater Falls, a 62-foot plunge where the Blackwater River enters rugged Blackwater Canyon.     The unusually dark water is a result of tannic acid leaching from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles.
