Shaman, at the Frontier Restaurant on Central

            I met Shaman one day in the alley behind the Frontier Restaurant.  The Frontier is a mainstay on Central Avenue, just across from the University of New Mexico.  The Frontier is the most small d democratic eating place in Albuquerque - a sprawling conglomeration of structures that were appended one by one as the business grew and additional seating was needed and that now serves hundreds at any given time, with ranchers, students, professors, entertainers, blue collar workers, white collar workers, people of all stripes sitting back to back in booths and at tables.  My favorite restaurant in all the world, in short.  I was headed there for a meeting and Shaman was in need of a cigarette, which I did not have.  Notwithstanding, we chatted for a minute and he agreed to let me take his photo, which is posted elsewhere in my feed, and also agreed to meet me the next day for a photo shoot, for which I paid him.  This image was part of that shoot, done in front of the Frontier.  A protest raged in the street behind us, this being not long after Albuquerque police fatally shot James Boyd, a mentally imbalanced homeless man, in the foothills of Albuquerque.
