Alexcars, Cirencester K2 SUP - a photo on Flickriver

            Alexcars were one of the oldest-established firms to close, having started in 1946, although they cited the loss of all their college contracts as the primary factor. I couldn't locate an original digital image of an of their fleet, so here is one I made earlier .... 

These Iveco 315s with Lorraine bodies were really rather awful vehicles, and I only ever met one operator who was not thoroughly fed up with running one of them - and he was a hotel owner in Southport, so not really qualified to have an opinion ! There were 12 built in total, and this was the final one to enter service. Alexcars took it from Supreme of Hadleigh when it was less than 18 months old, got 4 years out of it, and moved it on to another local firm. When they binned it at the start of 2001, it was barely 8 years old, but it never ran in service again. I managed to nail it at Ascot Ladies Day in 1995.
