在台灣東南方太平洋上的蘭嶼,像是一顆遺世的珍珠,也因以前整島遍佈美麗的蝴蝶蘭,因而得蘭嶼美名,美麗,自然充滿熱帶海洋原始文化的氣息,島上的達悟族人(雅美族)千百年來以永續利用自然資源的生活方式,發展出獨特的海島民族文化,也使得蘭嶼迄今一直能保有神秘面紗,達悟族人(雅美族),丁字褲,飛魚,拼板舟,珠光鳳蝶,蘭嶼角鴞,一直吸引著中外遊客至此一探神秘面紗......

飛魚是達悟族人(雅美族)重要的動物性蛋白質來源之一,捕捉飛魚也變成達悟族(雅美族)傳統文化的一部分,每年3-4月飛魚族群會隨著黑潮來到蘭嶼附近海域,一直到6月都是捕捉飛魚的季節,此時達悟族人(雅美族)就會舉行招飛魚的招魚祭,招魚祭過後即開始捕捉飛魚,把放在船屋裡的拼板舟拉出,整齊的擺放在海邊,此時蘭嶼海岸也被點綴的最漂亮,有著精湛手藝及精緻雕功的拼板舟,正是觀光客及攝影人最喜歡捕捉的畫面.
