Fire & Salty Ice :: HDR - a photo on Flickriver

With yesterday's complete lack of post-processing, I had to make up for it today with something like this.

This is a view of the Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island, which is the largest island in the lake. This was taken on the causeway, which is a 7.5 mile road connecting the island to Davis County, Utah. (I've put my approximate location on the map.) Most of the lake that would could see from the causeway was covered with snow. We found this break showing a thin layer of ice covering the massively salty water.

I'm always amazed at how quickly the cloud cover can magically appear. As we were driving to the lake there were very few clouds and I was preparing myself of a not-so-wonderful sunset. (Are there REALLY any not-so-wonderful sunsets?) Then the clouds streamed in and covered the entire valley.

- Three exposure HDR, bracketing set to 3F with 2.0 EV.
- Photomatix tonemapped generated HDR (using detail enhancer).
- Lightroom 2 adjustments.
- Photoshop to blend +2 exposure on bottom half of image. -2 exposure blended on top half.
