Sequoia Grove - a photo on Flickriver

Sequoia Grove

            The area that would become Redwood Park had been heavily timbered the year David Brown arrived in Surrey, BC and he was committed to rebuilding it. His twin sons who, like their father, shared a love of trees, proceeded to replant the timbered land around 1881. 

They started with Redwood seeds that they acquired in California and continued on to plant some thirty-two species of trees from all over Europe, Asia, and North America.

These 140+ year old trees are favorites of the local human and woodpecker population.
