Apollo Victoria Theatre 8916 - a photo on Flickriver

            Apollo Victoria, London. Designed in the art deco style by W E Trent and E Wamsley Lewis and opened as the New Victoria in 1930. It was part of the Gaumont circuit, but never took the name. It closed in 1975, by then a grade 2* listed building, playing infrequent concert dates until it was reopened as a theatre with the Apollo Victoria name in 1981. The theatre has become the home of particularly long-running musicals, including Starlight Express (18 years from 1984-2002) and Wicked (19 years and counting, having opened in 2006). It is owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group and has around 2,300 seats on two levels.
