0608 Shakespeares Globe Theatre (22)

            Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Southwark. Recreated from the 1576 Theatre, moved to close to the present site in 1599, it was rebuilt following a fire, and finally demolished in 1644. The idea to revive the building started in 1970, but was not completed until 1997. It seats 881 in three galleries, plus 600 'groundlings' standing in the open.
