Egg Sac of Orb-weaver, Singapore - a photo on Flickriver

            Ordinary yet Extraordinary -  
Some humans take a lot of time and energy, to weave a web strong enough to hold dreams. Spiders when they spin, is quite alike my washing machine. The latter cycles round and round with insistent whirr, the former hums a nursery rhyme as she spins. Zigzag in and out, crisscross put together… five seconds is all it takes to fudge her babies inside a ball. After ten, a fluffy mass now hides the bulbous crib from the nosey. Job fulfil in fifteen but the weaver is under a compulsion to add the finishing touch. She spews the closing silk and feels like Picasso achieving a masterpiece. A pastry chef will call her lace wrap the icing improving the lemon cake. What do you think? I know not the winner of the Singapore Sweep last week but I know this spider is a perfectionist. She could have stopped when the quilt blanketing her egg sac is complete but she went on to knit a wire fence hemming in. Moreover, atop the post of the chain link she “balloon twist” a couple of flowers in strawberry pink! Are certain spiders gifted with unusually high aesthetic sense? Do wolves steer clear of pale red because this kind pigment is considered potentially toxic? Banana spiders used to webbing with yellow spun silk, bleed pink precisely, out of the blue. How? O, the arty craft of spider mum, it’s hard, not to be entranced.
