A pega entrou a saltiños detrás da dona, e alí quedouse de asento, con casa e comida de balde. Todas as mañáns, aló polo medio día, saía o paxaro, eso si, a dar unha voltiña polos arredores. Saía pola fiestra do gabinete, onde misia Catalina cosía ou leía nuns grosos tomos de La femme chic, e dalía a unha hora ou pouco máis xa estaba de volta.
