Der alte Schuh

            

Da hat mir heut' mein Schuh erzählt,
als ich durch Zufall ihn gesehen;
wie meine Füsse ihn gequält
und er musst harte Wege gehen.

Gern wäre er durch's Gras gewandert,
durch Nadelwälder, weich und fein;
doch meine Füsse wollten wandern,
mit ihm nur über Stock und Stein.

So sprach er und er bleib' jetzt hier,
auch lasse er sich nicht erweichen;
er bleibe hier in dem „Quartier“ -
jetzt soll ich mich gefälligst schleichen.

Was sagt man dazu, fragte ich,
mein Schuh ärgert sich fürchterlich -
und welch ein opponieren? -
Soll ich mit Wachs ihn schmieren?

Doch nein, statt dessen muss ich schmunzeln.
Ich hab' gesehen seine Runzeln
im alten Lederschuhgesicht. -
Treuer Begleiter, gräme dich nicht.

„Mein lieber Schuh, sag' sanft ich dir
bleib' du ab heute im „Quartier“.
Dies sei dein Lohn, für viele Jahre
in treuen Diensten, schön sie waren.
Du lieber Freund, nun ruh' dich aus,
ich dank von Herzen dir!“ - Applaus!
