            Haulover Park is a 99-acre (40 ha) urban beach located in metropolitan Miami, just north of Bal Harbour, Florida. The park is located on a shoal between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, just north of the Broad Causeway (SR 922) and Collins Avenue.

History.

It was then the fourth main park of Dade County is the land where the park now sits, previously this area contained a "Faro Restaurant", a trailer and a small snack, stand, and docks of charter boats.
The Dade County Commission procured the beach owned in 1940 after a lobbying effort for a municipal bond of $ 2 million at that time and that would now be around $ 32.8 million this was done by County Commissioner Charles H. Crandon for purchases north of Key Biscayne (what would later become Crandon Park) and the area just north of Baker's Haulover Cut, which was then called North Beach.
Construction began at the beach facilities in 1941, stopped shortly after due to the start of the Second World War. The development of the property was resumed in 1945 with the clearing of land, addition of landfill and construction of the five underpasses that provide pedestrian access through the next relocated A1A motorway.
The development plan that was used to design the park was made by the famous architect William Lyman Phillips, known for his design of Matheson Hammock Park Greynolds Park, Crandon Park and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens among others. The park was renamed Haulover Park in January 1947, and was opened to the public in the following year at the end of 1948.
The Haulover Baker Cut, which borders the park on the south side, is a canal that connects the northern end of Biscayne Bay with the Atlantic Ocean.
The entrance was cut in 1925 through a narrow point in the bank that extends to a point east of the mouth of the Miami River and is now occupied by the city of Bal Harbor Port, City of Surfside and City of Miami Beach . The name of the cut for which the
park is named originates from a local sponge fisherman by the name of Philip
Edward Baker (1832-1898) who, along with his crew, frequently fished on the coast near the waters of the current park, it is said, this fisherman traveled a very long way to reach the sea and decided to leave the ship anchored and cross the mangrove by a way made by him and his people and from the other side in the bay they made the return journey in another boat. Then, another fisherman found Bakers Haulover much faster to use than to cross instead of taking the long trip around the bank and so began the name and history of Baker's Haulover.
There are other historical accounts of sailors and locals that some like to associate with the park.
As the "barefoot mailman" who carried the US mail on foot by the sand boat (1885-1892) that we could say was the first route between Palm Beach and Miami, Coconut Grove and City of lemon.
At this time there were no roads connecting the 68-mile route, this "Beach Walker" as it was originally called, traveled on foot along the beaches from what is now known as Delray Beach, across the beach from Fort Lauderdale and around the New River to Baker's Haulover.

 Some say that after "hauling" their mail across the beach to the bay and would then take a boat through Biscayne Bay to get to Miami.
Others refer to the era of Prohibition, when ships would arrive from the Bahamas to
deliver whiskey to be "dragged" along the beach to the bay where the speedboats
I would be waiting to head north on the Intracoastal Waterway.
The park of today is still known for many of the things that were already taking
Place on the property before it was developed and more. The white sand beaches, with beautifully restored sand dunes now serve as a playground for couples and families.
Hundreds, thousands of visitors from all over the world who come to enjoy the sun and surf.
The charter fishing docks serve as home to the dozen boats that have been taking people on deep-sea fishing trips and dives for decades, the palm-lined picnic fields provide the locals with a respite from the hustle and bustle the beach of Miami Beach that they have with their families on weekends and holidays.
The marina provides a launching point for the thousands of recreational boaters who navigate the Intracoastal Channel to explore Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean
The northern section of the beach designated as optional clothing this is so since 1991 and there are people from all over the world, there are renowned recreational opportunities naked along with beach concessions to rent umbrellas and beach chairs and snacks.
There are also dog friendly areas where you can go but of course, you have to pick up what the dog does.
The fun of flying kites has been a staple in the park for over 20 years and there is a biannual Kite Festival.
