A time of plenty

            For most wildlife, winter is a harsh unforgiving time. Deep snow makes travel difficult and buries the grasses needed for food. Opportunistic predators like coyotes and wolves take advantage of these harsh times by preying on the weak or unfortunate animals that didn't make it through the stress of winter. 
I don't know how this deer carcass ended up on this frozen pond, but it became a very important winter food supply for not only coyotes but bald eagles, crows and other wildlife of the area.
