THE OLD RIVER STATION PUMP HOUSE - a photo on Flickriver

            In 1898 four of the world's largest vertical, triple expansion, crank and flywheel, water pumping steam engines were incorporated into this pump house for the Cincinnati Water Works. The pump station is 105 feet deep and pumped water from the adjacent Ohio River to the City of Cincinnati, Ohio Water Treatment Plant. Today new electric pumps have been installed, but the original pumps are still preserved in this structure and were last used in the 1960's.
