On our first day of the trip we were at Yosemite/Mono lake area and was exploring the views of the amazing Tioga pass road, the sky had turned pretty cloudy and was pretty much blocking the sun out, removing any chance of a decent sunset. My wife has become such a big fan of sunsets that she refused miss a sunset when we are on these trips. So she kept her hopes up even after I just wanted to go to the hotel and sleep. As we were just about to exit the Tioga pass road and enter Rt. 395 the clouds broke and we had a spectacular batch of colors leak out illuminating the clouds in a pretty spectacular display of color. She had the presence of mind to direct me to a nearby turnout and I grabbed my camera and tripod to run out set up and get this brief display of brilliance by nature. It only lasted for about 5 minutes but it was undoubtedly one of the best displays of Nature I have ever seen.

Given some more time I could have framed the pic a little better but I believe when you have such a magnificent show in front of you rules of compositions and photography doesn’t matter and it’s almost like being a press photographer and being at the right place at right time is the only thing that matters and I am humbled by the fact that I got to be at this location to see this beautiful scene.
