L'isola d'Elba è un'isola situata tra il canale di Piombino a est, a circa 10 chilometri dalla costa, il mar Tirreno a sud e il canale di Corsica a ovest. È la più grande delle isole dell'arcipelago toscano, e la terza più grande d'Italia (223 km²). L'Elba, assieme alle altre isole dell'arcipelago (Pianosa, Capraia, Gorgona, Montecristo, Giglio e Giannutri) fa parte del Parco nazionale dell'Arcipelago Toscano. Amministrativamente è suddivisa in 7 comuni, facenti parte della provincia di Livorno. La spiaggia di Sansone a Portoferraio rappresenta una delle spiagge bianche dell'isola che vanno da Capo Bianco a Capo Enfola ed è costituita da ciottoli bianchi e ghiaia così come le altre spiagge bianche che compongono questo splendido lato dell'isola. Essa è divisa da uno scoglio con la spiaggia della Sorgente ed ha di fronte un mare di colore blu cobalto con venature verdi; se spira vento di scirocco, essendo sottovento, il mare è tranquillo e cristallino con un fondo bianco al pari di tante spiagge dei Tropici. Un luogo davvero incantato a pochi passi dall'abitato di Portoferraio

The island of Elba is an island located between the Piombino channel to the east, about 10 kilometers from the coast, the Tyrrhenian Sea to the south and the Corsica channel to the west. It is the largest of the islands of the Tuscan archipelago, and the third largest in Italy (223 km²). Elba, together with the other islands of the archipelago (Pianosa, Capraia, Gorgona, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri) is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Administratively it is divided into 7 municipalities, which are part of the province of Livorno. Sansone beach in Portoferraio is one of the white beaches of the island ranging from Capo Bianco to Capo Enfola and is made up of white pebbles and gravel as well as the other white beaches that make up this splendid side of the island. It is divided by a rock with the Sorgente beach and faces a cobalt blue sea with green veins; if the sirocco wind blows, being downwind, the sea is calm and crystalline with a white background like many beaches in the tropics.
