General Dynamics USB Audio Adapter / Type II

            I picked up this device as surplus for about $30, hoping it would let me use an aircraft headset with a computer. Pleased to report it works very well for this purpose. When connected through a PTT switch, it will let you use a low-impedance aircraft headset (I have a David Clark H10-76), provided you have the proper PTT switch cable with a 6-pin female U-229 connector at the end.

It enumerates as a standard USB audio device and mouse. The mic is always "hot" regardless of PTT switch position (expected; the PTT is a separate line on the connector, it doesn't actually switch the mic input) and the headphones are always live.

When the PTT switch is pressed, the adapter sends a mouse middle-click to the host computer. Presumably this would trigger a transmission in whatever software it was originally designed to work with.
