Sids Falls, SC - Explored - a photo on Flickriver

            A friend took me to another new waterfall, Sids Falls, located in NW South Carolina.  This is a gorgeous waterfall that reminds me of Minnehaha Falls in NE Georgia.  Even in winter the rhododendrons provide quite a bit of green for the image.

The hike is a total of 3 miles.  Most of the hike is easy to moderate going slightly downhill going in.  However, it's the final portion which I found strenuous and extremely steep.  There had been quite a bit of rain before the day we went.  This made the steep hike even more muddy and slippery (which I can attest to since my feet gave out and landing me square on my back).  But there a lot of rhododendrons and tree branches to grab to help.

Once down, there are some flat rocks where you can get a few different compositions.  However, on this day, the rocks were very slippery so neither of us ventured out very far.

The climb out seemed a bit easier since you could pull yourself along with both your feet and hands.  For my first hike of the season and carrying my full pack, I was sputtering on the gradual uphill hike to our cars.

But that didn't deter either of us from going on to Riley Moore Falls for yet another two mile hike to a great waterfall.  One more new waterfall for me.  Now back to my heating pad.
