204/365 - a photo on Flickriver

            Today, not a first but a rare site for my POD or any picture for that matter!  I cropped todays shot, I cant say that I am ashamed of myself but now that I have a new found tool more and more pictures may end up being cropped!  In my original shot the horizon was way slanted, not to the effect of the boat coming up the ramp but maybe more or less the ramp itself.  I was taught by a fellow photog how one can correct the distortion of shooting the horizon out of whack, and greatly appreciate that peace of advice.  I shot with my d50 (camera I bought in 2007 NEW), but now that I have the ability to work with raw I tend to shoot mainly on the D2h.  This shot in paticular from my d50 was one of four shots in a row, I turned around to take a last look at the sunset and saw this guying pulling the boat up the ramp:  Quickly turning the focusing ring to what I thought was in focus (as the D50 has gotten older its a lot less accurate with a lot of things), I held for four clicks, which filled the buffer as sad as it may seem.  By the time I had my eye back to the viewfinder he was out of the frame and the moment was gone, but I had special hopes for the shot.  To which I succeded and took a few more steps to get it the way I wanted but really ended up happy with my shot.  I like the sense of motion here, as well as the couple above his head camera left..gazing off into the sunset.  Glad to have a day turn out so well, and have the rain hold off long enough to let me snap some frames.  

Another side note: I prefer this shot for the composition, more then the actually color ;)
