A64 and B10 at The Plains - a photo on Flickriver

            A64 and B10 stand alongside each other at The Plains Vintage Railway, Ashburton (Canterbury, NZ). B10 is visiting from Oamaru Steam and Rail as part of the NZR 150th celebrations, whilst A64 is a resident of The Plains.

A64 is an 0-4-0T was built in 1873 by Dubs & Co (Glasgow, Scotland), and was used in railway construction around Christchurch, and later in branch line and shunting service. By 1890, it had been superceded by heavier locomotives, and was sold to Canterbury Frozen Meat Company for shunting use. A64 is the second oldest surviving locomotive in the country.

B10 is another 0-4-0T locomotive, built by Hudswell Clarke and Company in 1924 for the construction opf the Waihi to Tauranga section of the East Coast mainline (North Island). Following construction duties, B10 worked as a shunter at various private companies before being preserved by Oamaru Steam and Rail.
