DSC2502 at Ashburton - a photo on Flickriver

            DSC2502 sits shutdown in the yard at Ashburton. A number of smaller towns around New Zealand have their own shunting locomotives allocated to them to add/remove wagons from mainline freight trains.

DSC2502 is powered by a pair of Cummins NT855 engines (each rated at 210hp), and dates back to 1964 when it was built by the NZ Government Railways (using the design of earlier locomotives delivered by the UK firm of British Thomson Houston).
