Cavalier contrast

            Many visitors to the Stony Stratford show would have missed these as they were in a car park away from the main activity on the Market Square. They represent the first and last generations of the Vauxhall Cavalier, the Mark 1 being a top of the range 2000 GL automatic in a wonderfully 1970s shade of orange with a beige interior. The Mark 3 is an early example of this type and I don't recall ever seeing another finished in beige, surely not a popular colour by the late eighties. It is a 1.6 L, a fairly basic trim level but not the smallest engine as the 1.4 from the Astra and Nova was also initially offered in the Cavalier.
