Burnham-on-Sea Low Lighthouse - a photo on Flickriver

            Burnham-on-Sea Low Lighthouse in the distence. The lighthouse is a 9 footed lighthouse built in 1832 by Joseph Nelson on the mudflats to help guide ships into the River Parrett. 

Orginally the lighthouse used two parafifin vapour burner to create the Red and White lights till Burnham-on-Sea was electified allowing Trinity House to install a 1000 Watt Incandscent light in 1927, which could been seen from 9 nautical miles. In 1969 the Low Lighthouse was deactivated in favour of the High Lighthouse however in 1993 the High Lighthouse was deactivated and the Low Lighthouse brought back into operational use and now operated by Sedgemoor District Council.
