A Pickle of Poppies - a photo on Flickriver

            A punnet of pickle-painted poppies, drizzled in jus and served on a bed of lettuce…

Well, maybe not. But have you noticed that in most restaurant menus these days everything is drizzled with something? And often it’s jus. I’m never too sure what that means: gravy? Sauce? Not juices surely (they come from fruit after all… {sigh}).

And as I was writing this I struggled to think what a group noun for poppy heads might be. A pantheon of poppies? A papoose of papavers?

I’m sorry. I f you have read this far you’ll be hoping that I shall shortly be talking sense. Alas, not much hope of that any time soon...

This is for Sliders Sunday. A magnificent mangled melange made of three tinkered and tweaked Topaz presets (Burnt Edges, Ghostly Natural and Melting), sauteed, simmered and stirred to a colourful gourmet's goulash for the eye, a piquant pickle of poppies.

(I’ll post a link to the original in-camera image so you can see how far we came. The poppy heads were collected from our garden this year - I love the shapes and colours - they remind me of space stations… (read too many of the wrong type of books obviously)).
