The lichen on the gate is Physcia adscendens
The greenish lichen on the log is almost certainly a Punctelia sp, most likely P.jeckerii, but could be P.subrudecta. There are other possibilities, but these are the two most common Punctelia species in Beds. There is also Xanthoria parietina and a Physcia sp - not easy to determine which because it is not fully developed, but perhaps P.tenella rather than P.adscendens?

All of these lichens are common or abundant in Beds

A morning visit to Dropshort Marsh Nature Reserve, Toddington on a cool clear and a bit frosty January morning

Will try to be more together with my 2020 checks after a poor attempt in 2019.
Today was a beautiful and slightly frosty morning.
Arrived at 11am left 12.10pm so with time for report total volunteer hours circa 1.5.

Some lichen on road gate TL00702766 and another on a fallen branch by stream TL00252772
For Graham Bellamy
A few woodlice under a rotting log at TL00252772
Adjoining grazing field still under grass but no grazers at moment. No sound of Skylarks.
Has anybody discovered what those little square wooden pegs with a stud in are all about?
I found one at roughly TL00622771.
Nice fresh molehills reported to I-record @ TL00442774.The cattle in 2019 have done a great job and there is very little rough/long straggly grass.The fencing is all good apart from the stream edge of the bottom marsh field that is down with about 6 or 7 posts need to be replaced. Reed bed by board walk was not cut over winter.Everything else is all very tidy , Andy and your team have done an amazing job.I only saw a few pigeons .Photos at Flickr album DSM2020
