JXC35_1977_04_Acton - a photo on Flickriver

JXC35_1977_04_Acton

            Whilst walking down the road on my way from Acton to Old Oak Common MPD on the 8th April 1977 I happen to spot RT672 (JXC 35) approaching and managed this photograph. The RT was London Transports standard post-war double-deck bus, replacing virtually all other types and around seven thousand were built. They were followed by the more famous RM (Route Master) type in the late 1950’s. The first RT actually entered service in 1939, and the last in service, RT624, was withdrawn in 1979. RT672 was built in 1948 and would survive for another six months before being withdrawn in October 1977 and broken up one month later.
