            One from the reject box that managed to avoid the waste paper bin forty years ago (due to the subject) and with today’s technology a passable image has been achieved. 

A pair of Class 76 locomotives with 76009 in the lead head eastward at Torside with a train of Cov hoppers, 20th February 1981. 

British Railways introduced a standardised design of covered hopper wagon in 1952 and built eleven hundred and twelve up to 1961, all to diagram 1/210 although there were detailed differences between the various batches. They generally carried powders which could unload by gravity.

Locomotive History
76009 was originally E26009 and was built at Gorton Works with electrical equipment provided by Metropolitan Vickers. It entered traffic in February 1951 and was one of the class to be fitted with dual brakes for operating with modern air braked wagons. It survived until the end of the Woodhead route in July 1981 and was broken up at CF Booth Rotherham during July 1983.
