20189_2108_Attenborough

            4th August 2021 and Vintage Trains are invoking memories of the 1970/80’s when pairs of Class 20’s would get a break from coal and freight duties and get a class 1 passenger duty to the seaside. I am talking of course of the Jolly Fisherman, East Midlands to Skegness trains that ran on summer Saturdays and during the school holidays.

Todays Jolly Fisherman to Skegness started at Tyseley and I had planned to photograph it at Attenborough at 09:25, however it was delayed at Nuneaton for over two hours and owing to another appointment “Plan A” had to be abandoned. 

So on to “Plan B” Attenborough on the return journey. This was touch and go as it was booked at Attenborough at 21:11, almost dark, however aided by the station lights and a more or less head on composition to cater for the slow shutter speed available (1/60 sec) I managed this effort of 20189+20227 working 1Z86, 18:25 Skegness – Tyseley.
