            DFDS Seaways operates two ships on the Newcastle-Amsterdam route. The KING SEAWAYS and the PRINCESS SEAWAYS. These ships are called cruise ferries as they host a range of facilities and entertainment options to make one’s crossing more enjoyable. 

This is the bridge of the PRINCESS SEAWAYS. She was built in 1986. She was actually built as the MS Peter Pan by the shipyard Schichau Unterweser in Bremerhaven for the German shipping company TT-Line. This company operates mainly within the triangle Travemünde (D), Trelleborg (S) and Świnoujście (PL).

Between 1993 and 2002 the ship was named MS Spirit of Tasmania, owned by the Tasmanian Government and operated by TT-Line Pty. Ltd. and used on traffic across the Bass Strait; to connect Devonport on Tasmania and Melbourne in Victoria. 
In 2002 the ship was sold to Fjord Line and renamed the MS Fjord Norway for several services to and from Denmark. Rather shortly after that, in 2006, she was sold to DFDS Seaways, and sailed as the MS Princess of Norway before being given her current name in 2011.

In 2006 she was completely renovated. The vessel has room for over 1,250 guests and 600 cars. She is 162,75m long, ha a width of 28m, a draught of 6 m and finally a tonnage of 31,360. 
She is a very powerful vessel, with an engine output of 19,600 kW. Her manoeuvring or bow thrusters are capable of 6000 hp (which equals to 4,474.2 kW). This is quite impressive and this results in more than excellent turning capabilities. However, this is no luxury considering the tight space for manoeuvring in the Port of IJmuiden. Before berthing, the vessel has to make a 180 degree turn and sail backwards into its berth. Especially during high winds, this is a complex and difficult manoeuvre as she has a rather high air draft due to her shape and size.     

Technical stuff
This HDR consist of a single handheld photo, taken at  F8.0, 1/140, -1 1/3 and ISO 2500.
I’ve used Aurora HDR 2018 to create the initial HDR. Further post-production was done with Lightroom CC. This included adjusting the curves, balancing the lighting conditions and reducing the noise in some parts. I finally added a copyright signs. The latter is, alas, there to stay due to the fact that my photos were frequently copied. So, don't bother commenting on that.
