Dettaglio degli affreschi della AULA GOTICA (definita la Cappella Sistina del Medioevo) nel complesso monastico dei Santi Quattro Coronati in Roma. Capolavoro del XIII secolo, le meravigliose decorazioni, scoperte nel 1995, sono rimaste per secoli nascoste sotto strati di tinte successive e solo grazie a un lungo lavoro di restauro. Sono di importanza artistica fondamentale in quanto testimoniano il momento in cui la tradizione bizantina si fonde con la nuova cultura gotica.

Detail of the frescoes in the “AULA GOTICA” (Gothic Hall - called the Sistine Chapel of the Middle Ages) in the monastic complex of the Santi Quattro Coronati in Rome. Masterpiece of the 13th century, the wonderful decorations, discovered in 1995, have remained hidden for centuries under layers of successive colors and only thanks to a long restoration work. They are of fundamental artistic importance as they testify to the moment in which the Byzantine tradition merges with the new Gothic culture.
