Damsels-egging - a photo on Flickriver

Damsels-egging

            Large red damselflies laying eggs on lily pads.  The male is the upright insect.  He hangs on to his mate so that no other damselfly can mate with her - which they do try to do.  They have to be careful.  The newts were circling underneath leading to frequent changes of position.
