Stormlight - a photo on Flickriver

Stormlight

Another couple of days up in the Lake District and another couple of days of very varied weather ranging from pouring rain to total gloom...

But, as someone once said... "there's no such thing as bad weather"... I wonder who came out with that?? anyway it was a case of constantly monitoring the weather and looking for possible breaks in the cloud, The Southern Lakes looked the best so I headed for the Duddon Valley area which can be great in Autumn, I was getting some luck with cloud breaks but just not in the right places until I came across this scene near to Seathwaite.

The clouds were moving really fast and this led to intermittent light falling onto the mountains at the rear in patches so I decided to set up and just wait it out.... unusually I'd packed a really long lens as it never seems to get used and this semmed like the perfect time to use it, between 40 minutes and an hour passed with me taking a couple of images untill the craggy peak you see here got fully lit up by the sun with inclemnt weather still blowing through above it giving a greatly contrasting scene with the lighting providing some really effective layering.
