A quote that not only is true, one which I've though to myself many times over the years as I have approached a scene with totally the incorrect footwear....

Not one to learn from previous soakings, this was no different and the pair of trainers I had on to visit this beach were soaked through within about 20 minutes of me getting there, so they ended up coming off and being tied to my camera bag instead, which on first thoughts may have been a good idea to let them dry a little but of course at that time I was thinking about photographs, light, and keeping people out of my images, not giving a second thought to the moment when I had to put them back on later and of course my feet were now covered in sand, in soaking wet trainers.

Anyway, you get the idea... this is the fantastic beach at Miramar about 10 KM South of Porto in Northern Portugal, taken during a very vivid sunset looking back along the coast towards the City in the far distance (you can see the City if you zoom in).
The main on only real stand out subject on the beach is 2 shots back in my stream, a stunning small Chapel on a rocky outcrop, but the light was actually far better in this direction when the sun had almost hit the horizon so I just decided to go for a more abstract shot with the end of the breaking waves as a lead into the scene, and of course with wet feet I could get right in the middle of it all with no need to work further up the beach.. so maybe there's actually two 'up sides' after all....
