Talgo País Vasco-Alicante pasando por Pancorbo

            Aunque me encantan Pancorbo, el Talgo III y las 252 con sus colores originales, aquel día de agosto la aparición del tren me produjo una enorme desazón. Una locomotora eléctrica en cabeza de este Talgo significaba que no circularía  por el Directo y que iba a dar un "bonito rodeo" por Valladolid. Vamos, lo que en aquella época  los aficionados denominábamos  un "Indirectazo". Renfe (o adif o quien fuera) justificaba esta medida por el riesgo de incendios que representaba la circulación de una locomotora diésel por la sierra madrileña, una incongruencia supina porque en aquella misma época no eran pocas las máquinas diésel que circulaban por zonas tan sensibles o más que el pulmón verde del norte de Madrid. Era evidente que había un interés oculto por socavar el futuro de esta línea ya que este desvío alargaba la duración del viaje y obligaba a los viajeros de Aranda a coger el tren en Valladolid, localidad hasta donde eran trasladados en taxi. Estos síntomas de abandono y decadencia ya anticipaban la actual realidad de la línea, que se mantiene abierta únicamente para el tráfico de mercancias entre Burgos y Aranda. También circulan mercantes entre Madrid y Soto, población en la que se encuentra el centro de mantenimiento y reparaciones de Transfesa. El resto de la línea no ha visto circular un tren desde hace nueve años y no parece que haya ningún interés en revertir tan injusta y absurda situación.

Although I love Pancorbo, the Talgo III and the 252 with their original colors, that August day the appearance of the train caused me an enormous unease. An electric locomotive at the head of this Talgo meant that it would not circulate through "El Directo" and that it was going to make a "nice detour" through Valladolid. Well, what at that time we amateurs called an "Indirectazo". Renfe (or adif or whoever it was) justified this measure due to the risk of fire represented by the circulation of a diesel locomotive through the Madrid mountains, a supine inconsistency because at that same time there were not a few diesel machines that circulated in such sensitive areas or more than the green lung of northern Madrid. It was evident that there was a hidden interest in undermining the future of this line since this detour lengthened the duration of the trip and forced travelers from Aranda to take the train in Valladolid, a town where they were transferred by taxi. These symptoms of abandonment and decline already anticipated the current reality of the line, which remains open only for freights traffic between Burgos and Aranda. Freights also circulate between Madrid and Soto, a town where the Transfesa maintenance and repair center is located. The rest of the line has not seen a train run for nine years and there seems to be no interest in reversing such an unfair and absurd situation.
