Pwll du yr Byrddin trial silica mine

            This photograph has been included in this set but is not at the area behind Dinas Rock. This is the trial mine that was bored at Pwll du yr Byrddin which is up the valley known as Cwm Gored which is better known by photographers as the path from "The Angel" at Pont Nedd Fechan to Scwd Gwladys waterfall. The entrance can be seen across the river just before the footbridge where the path divides to Scwd Ddwli and Sgwd Gwladys.

Although some production went on at the mine, it was short lived. Today one can easily walk into the mouth of the working but can't proceed very far as the water is too deep for ordinary wellington boots.
