St Ives [3]

A set of photographs from the camera of the Late Keith Coles. Keith was a long-standing member of Bridgend & District Camera Club and when he passed away some years ago it was thought his collection of photographs and negatives had been subsequently lost for future generations. Almost by accident I was delighted to have tracked them down and found some little gems amongst them, like this set of photographs from a holiday in Cornwall in 1959.

I love the incongruity of the whole scene, old fisherman in waders and sunhat brandishing a pipe, gent on the right in ridiculously high waisted trousers and braces, all he needed was a knotted handkerchief on his head, and the boy dressed in typical 1950s beach wear interacting with the two of them but with his eye on the photographer. Priceless!

Some of the negatives from this set are badly fogged and unevenly exposed making scanning them evenly very difficult and obtaining a satisfactory result is laborious and time consuming. This is one such negative. If you think you've seen this one before, you'd be correct, it was previously in my 1950s set.
