Front garden in Priory Road - a photo on Flickriver

I remember this day well: it was Sunday morning, Mum had gone to chapel, Dad was in charge. Got us dressed ready for Sunday School that afternoon, beef in the oven, then out with the camera. My mother was horrified when she realised later that my father had taken photographs of us and hadn't brushed my sister's hair, even now, 50 years later, she still says it was a "waste of film"!

I'm on the right, with my brother Geoff on the left and my sister Sheila on the stool in the middle. We still have that stool, and I still have a pair of the socks that I'm wearing in my collection of 1950s oddities - don't believe in throwing things away!

The photograph is taken in the front garden of our house in Priory Road; we moved from there in 1962 when I was 13. I would have been aged about 9 in this photograph.
