I'll take the high road . . . - a photo on Flickriver

A fork in the footpaths alongside the Afon Mellte, the lower one is the trackbed of the former horse-drawn tramway serving the Glyn Neath Gunpowder Mills which ran along the side of the river for a mile or so.

There are a number of remnants of the works in the vicinity which includes some ruined buildings. The works were deliberately fired in the 1930s to remove any traces of the dangerous black powder that had been produced at the works.
