Ficus carica (Echte Feige) - a photo on Flickriver

            Die Feige ist die erste namentlich erwähnte Pflanze in der Bibel und auch die einzige namentlich erwähnte des Garten Eden. Nachdem Adam und Eva vom Baum der Erkenntnis gegessen hatten, wurden sie sich ihrer Nacktheit bewusst: Sie hefteten Feigenblätter zusammen und machten sich einen Schurz (Genesis 3,7). 

The fig is the first plant mentioned by name in the Bible and also the only plant mentioned by name in the Garden of Eden. After Adam and Eve had eaten from the tree of knowledge, they became aware of their nakedness: They stapled fig leaves and made themselves an apron (Genesis 3: 7).
