Orangutan in the Forest - a photo on Flickriver

            Another photo from Hanmer in Canterbury, New Zealand. The Forest Trust have added art in the forest. A large redwood tree that had to be removed from the thermal pools reserve was delivered to Christchurch sculptor Andrew Lyons. He carved the timber into a number of creatures that have been distributed around a small area of the forest. The animals include a dog, hawk, rats, possum, beaver, tuatara, a giant, orangutan, and others. The hair texture on the orangutan looked great as it hung high in the air. The walk was very popular with families when we visited and is a great incentive by the local community..
