BLUE-GRAY TANAGER Thraupis episcopus. A Blue-gray Tanager is perched among the flowers of a leguminous Porotón tree, Erythrina megistophylla Diels, family Fabaceae, which bears cup-like flowers from which this tanager has been drinking nectar. This bird was photographed along the Vía Cunuco, a dirt road, about two miles northwest of Mindo, in northwestern Ecuador at 10:02 AM on June 9, 2021.

Endemic to Ecuador, Erythrina megistophylla has flowers adapted to pollination by passerine (perching) birds. We have photographed a variety of passerine birds drinking nectar from these flowers as well as a number of hummingbird species.

The Blue-gray Tanager is a member of the family Thraupidae and lives from Mexico south to Brazil and Bolivia.

Una Tangara Azuleja Thraupis episcopus está perchada en un árbol leguminoso con nombre común Porotón, Erythrina megistophylla familia Fabaceae, con flores de la forma de copas de las cuales la tangara bebía néctar. La foto se sacó por la Vía Cunuco unos 4 kilometros al nordoeste de Mindo en el noroeste de Ecuador a las 10 y 2 de la mañana el 9 de junio de 2021.

Erythrina megistophylla es un árbol endémico a Ecuador.
