A Marked Finale

            This little spot marked a suitable point to the end of our long walk. Passing over the Grand Col de Ferret into Italy was the icing on the cake to a wonderful experience that I would be very happy to do over again in a heartbeat. The view down into Valle d'Aosta with the impressive Grandes Jorasses looming overhead literally took my breath away. I remember thinking that I could have cried at the time. Not because of the 1000m climb in 35 degree heat - well, maybe partly because of that - but really because of the shear beauty and size of the landscape and also the overwhelming sense of achievement.
