052606 - Awesome Nebraska Mammatus (B&W)

May 26, 2006 - Kearney Nebraska US

We had severe storms southeast of us, truck was in the shop, so there was no storm chasing this day... My wife & I were just chillin at our sons baseball game, these mammatus clouds started to roll in from the due south.

Mammatus Clouds are generally an indicator of severe wind shear in a cloud formation. There was plenty here that evening, as severe weather was developing just to east of Kearney Nebraska stretching all the way south into Northern Kansas. 2 tornados reported just south of Hasting Nebraska, and another south of Wilcox.

Since Kearney was on the outer rim of the severe weather, we just had wave after waves of these incredible mammatus clouds!
