May 22, 2008 - Phenomenal Lightning!

05-22-2008 - Kearney Nebraska

Late Night... Tornado warnings all over the place. Sirens went off in the city about 10:20... it was way after the storm had passed, but trained weather spotters had some roation just to the Northeast of Kearney on the southwest side of this storm!

Moving close to 11:00pm ... way after the storm had passed. I was just about to give it up, when as you can see the cool lower scuds moving in from the southeast, I was just trying to capture them...and then... CRACK ...I just about jumped out of my shorts, when this came over the house!

This was a very fast bolt, and as you see from the other images in this small photostream, that were taken that evening, they were to close and to bright.. but this one turned out to be a Beauty!
