Sunset Under The Pier...

In May 2002 karen and i took a trip to Myrtle Beach, my camera at that time was an Asahi Pentax K1000 film camera. The best thing about those film cameras circa 1998, was the anticipation of the end result. a sort of mystery game that you had no idea what you had till the film was sent away for developing... the inability to see your image until many day, weeks or even months after the photo was taken.

This process always made me so anxious; wondering if they turned out and how did i frame my subject, were my settings good enough and if they weren't... those images would be like a punch in the gut, to make sure the next time you got it right. On that trip I probably shot five rolls of Kodachrome Extra 250ASA film.

This shot was taken on Myrtle Beach South Carolina.we had gone walking on the beach enjoying the rich golden sunset, we had walked just beyond the second pier when i turned to see the sun glinting off the ocean and took this shot.

The negative to this shot is long lost or misplaced in some box somewhere in our basement. Unfortunately the 5 x 7 glossy print wasn't in a photo album, but jammed in a box of other forgotten photos. after I scanned the image I noticed all sorts of scratches and other marks on the photo; which needed to be touched up... hopefully i do the original image justice.
