Kovu - a photo on Flickriver

Kovu

            I knew photographing a white lion would be difficult but I didn't anticipate it being as difficult as it was. 
I visited a zoo which housed two white brother and sister lions, Kovu and Narla.
 I was excited to see them and how they differed in looks and personality to my lions.

Immediately I was struck with the unfamiliarity of these lions. I had no idea how they moved, what they did, who they were.
I felt no connection and that I was just a photographer trying to get a picture of a lion at a zoo and if you know me that is the last thing I would want to do.
I will leave that to those photographers who are good at that.

I did pick up little things though, the keepers the lions respected and the one's they didn't.
Kovu the male seemed quite placid and playful. His sister not as playful but more observant.

I will go back and try and get to know these lions more and try and perfect how on earth to photograph them in a way that gives them a voice.
